Inspirational Room of the Week: Revival Home

There is so much goodness in this room, where to start?! The velvety red on the walls is perfection. Imagine it without the strong color and it just isn't quite right. The period mixing shows great confidence and restraint on the part of the designer.

The modern light fixture and chairs add unexpected sass and pizazz to the otherwise neoclassical space. And the rounded windows and french doors into the room are the types of architectural details that truly make a space! More of those lovely windows and great design down below.

Happy Friday! See you Monday. xoxo Crystal

Quote of the Week

"I believe what you wear on the outside affects who you are on the inside. It is so much easier to be kind when you feel beautiful. You know this is true." -Heidi Merrick

Dreamy Blues

I'm running on a few days of sleep deprivation after a travel weekend, busy days at work, and lots of evening commitments. The dreaminess and relaxation of these blues are calling my name and telling me to come back to bed. Wouldn't that be nice?!

Style 360º: Pretty in Pink

It takes a lot of confidence to use the color pink. It says to the world, "I am strong and feminine all at once." And we all know there's nothing more dangerous than a women who embraces her womanhood to channel her confidence!

{Room via Elle Decor, Fashion via style.com}

The room is Sex and the City writer, Candice Bushell's NYC home. The different hues of pink create a soothing but energetic space. It's a confident, attention grabbing room, but elegant and traditional in it's furnishings. The fashion is part of Lanvin's Fall 2009 collection. These women look like they could take on the world and look darn sexy and sweet while doing so!

A Peek Inside Celebrity Interiors

I love catching a glimpse inside celebrity homes. The home is such a personal place that when we get a peek inside, it's always such a pleasant surprise. I often day dream about the different ideas I would set into place if I had an unlimited budget. These stars are lucky enough to have that luxury and the best designers at their finger tips.

Sarah Jessica Parker's Manhattan Home. I absolutely love the varying heights and styles of the chairs

Nicky Hilton's LA Abode. Very Hollywood glamour and hotel inspired.

Molly Sim's Manhattan Pad. This southern beauty chose girly and shabby chic.

Jennifer Lopez's Long Island Mansion. I love the calming, natural elements mixed with a little bling and glamour.

Nate Berkus's Chicago Pad. The green cabinetry and kitchen table are perfect!

Gwenyth Paltrow's Hampton Home. Classy, elegant, feminine, modern, just like the star herself.

Claire Danes's Living Area. I love the wide open space and minimalist approach, which still manages to make the area look filled.

Inspirational Space of the Week: Big Ideas

I love this space for so many reasons! What caught my eye initially is the room divider bookcase with pink drapery backdrop. This is a great idea for creating an extra space in the house while still keeping an open floorplan.
The seating achieves the perfect conversation area without being an obvious circle or square in order to draw you in. The varying styles, heights, and angles of the furniture and its placing keep the space interesting and unpredictable. This space comes pretty close to perfection in my opinion!
And here's a look on what's on the other side of the pink drapery and bookshelf. Don't you just love the homeowners confidence for color?!
Happy Holiday weekend! See you next week. xoxo Crystal

Etsy Wishlist: The One Strap Everyday Bag by Ikabags

These one strap cotton bags by Ikabags are just perfect for long, laid back summer days. I can see myself throwing a towel and bottled water in one of these and heading to the beach. Or slung around me as I bike ride around town. I love the simple solids and stripes and their curvy shape!

Modern Equestrian

Have you checked out Ralph Lauren Home recently? If not, it's definitely worth the visit! Their new collections are fantastic. I love how the clothes brand's clean, preppy look has been maintained so well in their furniture lines. Here's a look at the Modern Equestrian Collection.

Southwestern Chic

In July, I'm doing a design consultation and project for a family living in the Southwest. In preparation, I'm keeping my eyes wide open for ideas and inspiration. Overt themes never translate into sophistication, so instead I'm looking for subtle references to the Southwest desert and an aesthetic that is still very modern and chic. Here's a look at the colors and styles that are inspiring me so far.

Soothing Blue Doors

Wouldn’t it be nice to welcome your guests through an inviting blue door like one of these? Or paint an interior one this color to change it up a bit inside?

And this one below - I’ve been day dreaming about this color ever since first seeing it a few month ago. My mind keeps coming back to it over and over again. It’s so soothing and the perfect amount of sage and blue.
