Try This Trend: Lucite Coffee Tables

They're light and airy, modern and intriguing - I can't think of a reason not to love lucite coffee tables. I adore the "barely there" essence of the look.

What do you think? Do you love lucite as much as I do?

    I love lucite but it can be quite pricey in many cases (worth it though!). Serge de Troyer has some fabulous lucite pieces including a chest/trunk that can be used as a coffee table. While it is acrylic and not actually lucite, the CB2 Peekabo table is a great way to get the look for less.

    I looove this look, particularly in the first photo. I'm just thinking of scratched up it would get in my house. We're often eating, typing on the laptop, and putting our feet up on our coffee table. So maybe one day if I ever have a "fancy" living room, then I'll take the lucite plunge. Perhaps now I should stick with a lucite end table or something that doesn't do much except hold a lamp.

    i love these. been thinking a lot about lucite tables recently, ever since getting my philippe starck ghost chair and kartell lamp. good stuff, really keeps a space from looking too "done" or cluttered.

    It's a great look. I especially like lucite tables in small spaces or in more traditional interiors -- they shake things up a bit!

    I super, super *HEART* Lucite chairs and tables. I love the combination in the second photo, especially. What a great combination of more traditional pieces and the modern minimalist approach. I usually see Lucite pieces in uber-minimalist settings that don't have a touch of warmth. I've got to say, never seen it so seamlessly pulled together in a way that still looks homey! Beautiful! When can I move in?

    Hate, hate, hate the maintenance.

    Gorgeous until the first scratch. And oh, how that scratch would taunt me.

    Can't use ammonia-based cleaners. Boo.

    Yes, I love it! I have both a beautiful contemporary cocktail table, fairly large, and an amazing lucite pedestal which hold one of my favorite pieces. I love it because it looks sleek & it's kinda retro, but new. Great post.
