Yesterday on twitter I mentioned that I'd be enjoying a laid back night at home with a movie: Revolutionary Road. A few of you tweeted back warning me how sad and depressing it was...and you were so right!
But sad as it was, it is also very poignant. I think we all fear living a life that falls short of our biggest dreams. For me, it's important not to lose sight of what those dreams are and to do something everyday (even if small) that gets you one step closer to them!
Not too long ago, fellow Chicago blogger Jess LC of Makeunder My Life graciously asked me to share my life intentions as part of her 'Design Your Life' series every Thursday. I was delighted to wake up this morning to remember it was Thursday and headed over for a little inspiration to shake off last night's movie (today's guest is Cassandra of coco+kelley).
And it reminded me why I love all of you! Our niche community in the vast blogosphere is a talented, creative, and supportive group of like-minded individuals who generously shares their inspiration and kindness with each other on a daily basis. So, I just wanted to take this time to say, "Thank You," for contributing to such a lovely place for all of us to enjoy! I appreciate each and every one of you more than you know :)

These Rodney Smith images are stunning... They've got just the right hint of sadness and prettiness.
I loved how that film depicts the difficulties in achieving our dreams...
The second photo is one of my favourites and I also love Oprah's quote...
Thank you for such a wonderful post.

What a beautiful post, Crystal! It warms the heart...I too feel lucky and grateful to be apart of this group :)
The other day, I tried to imagine if I had started blogging 2 or even 5 years ago, how my path could have been different -- but then, I realized, I don't think it could be any better than it is today...all the wonderful people I've met and will hopefully meet one day, things learned, experienced -- are all so valuable and although this may sound silly, a little life-changing.
Well said! Great photos to go with your thoughts. The interview at Makeunder my Life was lovely.

We play dress, and stage set our spaces and then all it takes is a deep, rich, emotional story to wash all the preparations away, and release us back into a our true Self.
you are so right about that!
and I love our little niche community as well....talk about soo many talented and creative people all in one place, its amazing!
I love those images (and your thoughts). If only I had a little veil on my hat and my background was a bit blurred, that would be me.
Wow, Crystal! I can't tell you how wonderful and well-timed that post was! I've been wrestling with the idea of taking on some part-time work that doesn't really fit with my dreams... finally, I decided to focus on what I love even though it means less money, and less potential experience in a field that I ultimately don't want to work in. But, it was hard decision because I hate to give up opportunities! So, thanks, this really helped remind me to stay focused on what I want and love right now! And you and my other fave bloggers help inspire me every day, so thank you, thank you, thank you!
Beautiful images. I watched RR last week. I actually really related to it (not the bits involving affairs, blood and death) but to the need to do what you really want and follow your dreams. Actually I thought it was really about two people who probably shouldn't have married each other. Very sad but extremely thought provoking xoxo
This post was so well written and gracious; it gives us such an insite on the lovely person you are! You're right, blogging is an inspiring and wonderful place-- thank you for contributing to that.
blogging is one whole wonderful thing! :) was Di Caprio starring in the Revolutionary Road? or am i wrong?
Very well said, my dear. I feel the very same way. I thought the film was fantastic (I love Kate) and while it was very sad, I didn't find it depressing at all. And I love the Oprah quote!
So beautifully written... I agree that we should reach for the stars, and follow our dreams... if not, what are we waiting for?
Beautiful sentiments and beautiful photos.
Oh gosh! I was just skimming along my Blog Reader and came upon this post! Thank you so much for participating in the DYL series and remembering it this morning (not to mention writing about it here).
I also feel so thankful for this community, I mentioned earlier this week that for me, I have become a better designer because of this place we visit each day.
I also have a favorite O quote which I have adjusted slightly over the years.
"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for."- Oprah
My adaptation is:
"You get in life what you have the courage to work towards."
What a coincidence you've been living in Italy too! I was there in 2004-2005, living in Turin and Albenga, a tiny place in the Ligurian coast. I have to say I don't have one favorite place: I love Venice, Rome, The Cinque Terre, Siena... (actually most Tuscan cities are stunning!) Where have you been living? :)
The photos are just stunning - love the one with the hat. I always think B&W captures the soul better. Havent seen Revolutionary Road - dont know that I want to either now.
Thanks for a lovely blog
Lovely post! Those photos are stunning! And the last paragraph is so inspiring for a beginner blogger!
I cannot stop staring at the photos...they are stunning!
Love the Oprah quote!
Such gorgeous photos! Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! Comments make me happy :)
