One of the spaces in my apartment that's lacking is my workspace. As a design obsessed, I'm very effected by my environment and if it doesn't feel right, I just can't get work done there. So, of course I use my living room instead...but I'd like to change that. This little vignette is offering me so much inspiration right now. I love the cozy, enveloping feeling of the dark walls. The welcoming little bar cart that gives off a feeling of hospitality. And of course that perfect inspiration board with ribbons and buttons.
I'd love any suggestions you may have on where to find a similar board. And if you have a work space you're in love with and would like to send in a photo (plushpalate@gmail.com), I'd love to see it too! Maybe even share it here...

Those ribbon boards are a simple DIY project for a customized look! All you need is a push-pin board, cover with your choice of fabric, then criss-cross ribbons into the diamond pattern and secure with pretty pins, buttons, etc. So cute!
I've seen people make boards like that, although I'm not the crafty myself so I don't know the exact procedure.
I think it really helps to have a beautiful, organized work space.
I am like you, completely effected by my environment. How my apartment is decorated is so important to me for inspiration and relaxation!
For the board, you can make one yourself with a cork board, some fabric, ribbon and tacks. That way you can choose how you want it to look and make it one of a kind!

Fresh flowers add so much to a space! Beautiful image. Makes me want a bit glass of water! : )

Love the inspiration board! I want to do this in my livingroom instead of hanging up artwork... i'll send a pic if I ever get around to it! lol...
oh this board is so pretty! i wish i had one like this too!
Hi Crystal - this must be catching. Here is a post of similar boards... http://beautifullivingstyle.blogspot.com/2010/02/inspiration.html
One of mine is from Ballard Designs and the other is just a regular old corkboard. These are pretty easy to make too.
I've been thinking about making one of these boards. But I'm afraid of the clutter I might create. Have you checked out Camila's board over at High Heeled Foot? She made a great one and posted it last week!
I wish my inspiration board over my bed was chic enough to share here, hehe!
Workspace issues....I hear you! Creative people are sensitive to their surroundings. Environment really affects how we think and work.
The inspiration board is a wonderful idea- one that doesn't work for me. My environment is totally lovely but not good for keeping a board of papers/pics on a wall, exposed (I've tried...) My solution is to keep ideas in digital pics and documents. There's always a way. :)
Best wishes getting your work space in order! It seems a satisfying and challenging project. I look forward to reading other's ideas on this topic.
While I cant' offer any suggestions on where to get that board, other than DIY, (and I am not that girl), I will say I love bar carts and inspiration boards so much, really digging this image.
What a beautiful image! But I'd be afraid I wouldn't get any work done if I had that bar cart in my office ;)
You should definitely DIY this - I love these boards because every version is so unique and can be made to suit the room/personality so perfectly.
You can make a DIY board in a second! It's very easy & you'll tackle it in no time. Get a big corkboard. Cover it in batting & fabric - stable to the back. Then criss cross your ribbon & secure them with decorative push pins - voila - cheap and easy :)
Like the picture but being a white / minimalist I dont think it works for me. In fact, I've done my office space along the lines of that beautiful space in the converted church pics you had - including a long table which holds me & my partner's work space & a big mirror to reflects the water. The mirror lets me dream when I want to without taking me away all the time.
Pretty find, Crystal! I, like you, cannot work in a space that I don't find to be inspiring. When I was in design school, our labs and class rooms were very cold and technical -- I hated it! I would leave as soon as classes were through, because I didn't feel inspired to create anything at all. At home, I feel so inspired, due to my surroundings...
Last week, I received a random email from a design school in Florence -- this is what it looks like:

As for inspiration (boards), I do a few things. I like to keep a linen covered book with clear sleeves for magazine pages/small items, and two small metallic boards for other things. (Ikea, available in several colors)
Hope you're having a wonderful, inspired week, Crystal :)
