Cobalt Blue, I Can't Get Enough of You!

I know what you're thinking. It's spring and I should be posting palettes of blush pinks, faint lilacs, subtle yellows, and other soft hues. But life is too short for rules and I can't get enough of this deliciously saturated little corner in cobalt blue!
Which brings to mind Windsor Smith's kitchen! Made famous by the September 2009 issue of House Beautiful for its unexpected boldness, the blue creates drama and mystery while the white George Smith wingback saves it from feeling too heavy. Whether you can picture it in your own home or not, the luxury of it all is hard to resist whatever time of year!

I love this color with a splash of citron green. Of course, all the white makes it really work. Love the wing chair.

I LOVE cobalt blue, especially for bedrooms and formal dining rooms. Our new house is going to be pretty open concept, though, so I'm not sure I'll be able to incorporate in the dining room.

I agree, cobalt blue is just too yummy...especially painted floor to ceiling, like in the first photo. What an amazing color, that so well shows off accessories. I love it against white, silver, gold, and bright yellow flowers...and with black? Isn't it even more powerful?

Hope you're having a wonderful day, Crystal :)

Heart that kitchen. One of my faves, and probably the only way I could be coaxed into doing color in the kitchen.

The second picture was probably one of my favorite recent House Beautiful spreads. I love Windsor Smith's style! Cobalt Blue is also one of my top five color choices. I have a collection of cobalt blue drinking glasses inherited from my parents' old cafe that they used to own...I absolutely adore them. Lovely post...thanks for sharing.
