I love the feeling of being envoloped and enclosed when I sleep for the warmth and safety it evokes. In fact, I dream of purchasing a four poster bed and hanging drapery on all four sides that I can open during the day and close at night to create that feelig. But until then, something like this will have to do.
Hanging a little patch of fabric or your favorite scarf, sari, or sarong like these creates a similar feeling of envelopment that I adore. It's an unexpected way to bring pattern into your bedroom and close the gap between you and your ceiling.
What do you think? Would you try it?

I LOVE the idea of creating a reading nook with a tent like enclosure above it. I think it would be such a peaceful spot to sit and read with a cup of coffee!!
What a fun idea... I love the 1st photo ~~
love the patterns, I agree with Laura, very fun idea!
Wonderful and easy idea. Really love the second picture!
What a great idea! I so love that cozy feeling too :)
Look what they've done with that tiny room, last pic! It looks very inviting with the blue tent-like fabric.
ooo this is a great way to cover up a bad ceiling too! ...and add color to a room:)
The minute I read your post title I had the song "tainted love" stuck in my head. I love it. I had one of those gauzy princess type canopies in my old bedroom, and when that wasn't enough I moved my bed into my closet and hung curtains at its "entrance".
I think the idea is clever and cute. But don't think I could swing it–a little claustrophobic.
I love the first picture- It has a french country charm with a quirky twist. The black and white canopy really completes the look.
Check out my blog- new followers ALWAYS welcome!!

It's a great idea and I've done something comparable. I like the simplicity, yet chicness of your bedroom.
Absolutely! I'm dying for a four-poster bed with dramatic curtains.....
I love this idea and yes, I would try it:o)

i love this idea. urban outfitters has a host of pretty "tapestries" that could be put to use both on or above the bed. i especially like the atlas and leopard print versions. how cool would it be to look up to a map of the world every morning and night?
p.s. check out my blog today when you get the chance — i left you a little something! congratulations :)
Absolutely! These are gorgeous. I have both images saved for future inspiration. Perhaps I should wait no longer. I love Design Darling's idea above using an urban outfitter's fabric. They do have tons of choices that would work perfectly for this application.
