I don't know about you but I've become completely charmed by the Novogratz family on Bravo's newest hit reality show, 9 by Design. Husband and wife team Cortney and Robert make up SixxDesign, a developing and interior design firm in New York City.
Last night was the season finale. It's been so much fun watching how they run their hip and stylish enterprise, but what I found so fascinating was how they juggle it all with seven energetic, albeit well-behaved and adorable, children.
Robert and Cortney seem to do it with such ease and a good sense of humor. I love the little smiles Robert is always able to get out of Cortney with his witty jokes even in the tensest of moments. You can sense the tenderness between them and the team work behind their success.
Admittedly, their aesthetic is one that has been an acquired taste for me. Through watching the show, I've been surprised to see how much more I appreciate it after understanding the thought process behind it.
Love it or hate it, one thing is for sure, Robert and Cortney's designs are striking, daring, and get people talking. Their show has brought that conversation to a national stage, as they continue to build their SixxDesign empire. Let's hope Bravo brings them back for a second season because as far as I can tell, the design community is totally smitten!

I love that second kitchen! I am really itching to re-decorate!!
I give a hearty 2 thumbs up, and I totally agree. I am definitely smitten with the Novagratz' and am dying to see more of their design. Bravo, bring it on!
Love them and their kids. Not as crazy about their design. I mean, I like each room individually... but most of their projects start looking a lot alike. The white floors, the lightboxes, the funky feather chandeliers... I only caught two episodes and saw those pieces in more than one project. I like them and watching the design process more than I like the finished products. But yes, I hope there is a season 2!

I was watching it last night and fell in love with their tiger striped wood floors!
I love them. I do agree with Alaina that a lot of their projects look a lot alike, but I still love them anyway :) A lot of it is way too much for me, but they got me thinking outside the box, and have done some pretty amazing stuff.
Love them and their designs! They're always interesting and different than everything thing else out there! -jami
I have to agree I enjoy them as a family but as for their design, I pick and choose pieces I like from the overall style! Though I was very happy to see them talk about "affordable" design even if Pier 1 seemed to sponsor it, it was an episode after my own heart. Design CAN be affordable for all : )
i absolutly love design and decor - and can u believe i've never watched this show?! - i gotta watch it ondemand - i hear such great things!!!

I've never watched but I have to hand it to anyone with that many kids who can keep things together.
I have yet to watch the show, and only recently heard of this husband-and-wife design team through the blogging community ... But, I might just have to watch some of these episodes to see what's up -- Their spaces are so interesting!
Love, love this show. I know their design is a bit out there for the more tradional people but Oh my what talent. I love the fact that they go with their instincts, No rules just go with their hearts. I love that quality in a person that is creating, that is what keeps it fresh and original. Love this show I can not imagine that they won't come back unless it just got to be too hectic for the family. I know the viewers definitely want more!! Kathysue
