The Alternative Nightstand

Don't have a dedicated office space in your place? Cringe at the thought of having your desk in the living room? Not to worry, there's a stylish and practical solution to love!
Let your nightstand work double duty and serve as your office area too! It's the perfect flank to any bed and gets the most out of your space.
Since bedrooms are a private area you won't have to worry if it gets a little messy or scurry to conceal your work when friends come over.

Personally, I'm thinking of trying it in my own place and moving my office from the living room couch to the bedroom.

On a different note, I'm featured in a movie today ;)

Thank you for another fun week in blogging! I've so enjoyed your comments and hearing your thoughts. Any fun plans this weekend? I'm headed to a showroom grand opening tonight with Jess, Bailey, and Alaina tonight! Pictures to follow, I'm sure...

Happy Friday!!!

xo,
Crystal

P.S. Congratulations to our giveaway winner Anu and a huge thanks to Pottery Barn for providing!

I don't think I could do this. These desks are lovely and organized though but my nightstand is piled with books, jewelry trays, pictures of my son, foot creams and a bunch of dried lavender in a vase to aid sleep!
I need both a nightstand AND desk.
If you can do this Crystal, I envy your pared down onganization and simplilcity of living...you rock

Ooh I thought about doing it, and even posted about it, but then I thought I would spend that much time on a desk anyway so decided to leave it for now. But i still love the idea and that first photo has me dreaming!!!

I've seen this done a few times and I think it's a great space saving idea! As long as the desk clutter doesn't get out of control (who wants to see that right before going to bed, and waking up every morning?!) I think it could work well.

I love the idea but work right next to your bed can create stress....but if there's no other option it's a good solution not to mention they look adorable.

Great movie, I love it!

What a cute feature on Live Creating Yourself! You DO look like Giada somewhat! Oh and I'm in love with that little English cottage from the Holiday too!

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

I've always thought this idea was great for small spaces. It would not be good for me to have my computer next to my bed though..I need to be able to walk away from it at times!

Great idea for a small space. I'm afraid mine wouldn't stay as neat as I would like it to be next to my bed...but then the dresser I have next to mine doesn't stay neat either....hmmm...maybe it's me....

I'm a big fan of using a desk as bedside table in small spaces. And I love when a piece of furniture can do two great things!

Creative idea, especially if space is limited in the home. And, lovely examples!

I agree with La Feem though about separating work and resting areas. Another option could be adding more space between the bed and the desk, so there's a clear "workspace" and "resting area".

I love the idea of a desk beside the bed. I don't know how many times I've jumped up in the middle of the night wanting to write down a dream or something like that. Plus I have a lot of stuff that a night stand just wouldn't hold!

I need to be able to get away from work - so I don't think having it the bedroom would be best for me!!

Love it. My bed is super high so my desk-as-nightstand was more out of necessity than style, (also, tiny NYC apt), I am so happy to hear it is an acceptable way to decorate! I went for the West Elm parsons desk with oversize framed Barbara Barry print, you'll have stop by when you're in NYC and you can see. Cheers!

I love these ideas... it makes the desk more like a chic writing area than a work area— possibly, too, more of a push to keep the area tidy and neat, as its right next to your bed. Lovely details in these photos, Crystal...

p.s You were featured? How fun! :)
