Herve Pierre's Whimsical New York Home

First of all, apologies for unexpectedly being absent on Friday. It was one of those days where I literally didn't have a single free moment to blog. Not even at 5 am when my day started! I hate it when that happens as I miss you terribly when I'm away from here. I also wanted to thank everyone who left comments on Thursday. The photo shoot went wonderfully and your feedback really helped us prioritize our shots!
Recently I came across the home of Herve Pierre, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera, on The Selby and was very intrigued by the play with humor and whimsy.
Beyond the oodles of eye candy, aren't these black gloved hands as curtain holders the coolest thing you've ever seen? A bit spooky, but definitely fabulous.
I tend to go with a less is more approach in my designs, but here we see that more is definitely more. Books and boxes piled high leave no shortage of visual delight.
I'm in love with the brilliant use of scale in the bathroom. The oversized perfume bottles make the tiny toilet paper holder chair all the more playful and fun!
Pattern on pattern done right! The curvy fabric on the skirted roundtable and lines of the wallpaper somehow remain calming even when placed against each other. The secret is their muted qualities and faint details.
A man who clearly loves hats, I adore the way the pictures are displaced. Blue matting helps tie in the adjoining room's color palette while everyday clips keep it simple.
Never has checkered looked so opulent! I love being kept on my toes like that. We expected downhome country, but instead we get a space fit for royalty.
All this fabulosity leaves me wondering. Who is the crazy talented designer behind this home? Could it be Mr. Miles Redd?

This home is fabulous! Hidden glamor & royalty, plenty of amazing details (like the curtain holder - I'm in love!) which all together make for a fantastic home decorated with an eclectic mix of patterns and a perfectly attractive use of colors! Have a great Monday, Crystal!

Quite an interesting style of decor, but the more books the merrier I say. One can never have too many. =)

can this home be more marvelous? there is also a ridiculous image of the silver tea tray on the coffee table with a bowl of bright and blissful laduree macacroons and the most delightful china - when i saw that photo, and the one with the fantastical lavender setee, i was officially in love...and made it a point to always have a happy bowl of macaroons on my coffee table :)

Any home that has that many books is divine in my book.

I love this place. I love how it's not all neat and tidy. Nice to see something in a photo shoot that looks like someone actually lives there.

Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up R! I hadn't seen his Paris apartment before - it's just as stunning! :)

Suddenly, all I want is a grand amount of bright blue checkers in my home...power of suggestion. I love Carolina Herrera and it would only make sense that she has a fabulously outrageous Creative Director. I also appreciate the organized "clutter" throughout the apartment, although I don't know that I could ever do it so well. Can't wait to check out his other homes!

Crystal -- Love that you are a fan of Herve's apartment as well. He is an absolute dear! He is also being modest above and it should be known that there was no "decorator" a la Redd involved---Herve decorated the place himself! Brilliant, I know : )
