A black wedding dress. Could you ever do it?
Personally, I could. There's something so spectacular and ironic about a departure from an age old tradition as ravishing as this to show your confidence and free will on your wedding day.
Mysterious, sexy, thought provoking, and bold - this is the quintessence of what fashion is.
Simply put, this stunning Vera Wang has me absolutely transfixed.

I wouldnt, but... I it's genius!
Well, I'm already married so I guess that counts me out but I think the photos above are beautiful and striking.
I guess my thinking was you can always wear a beautiful black dress but that white dress...only a few times in your life will it be really appropriate. That and my relatives would have probably had me committed if I had tried for black lol
I work in the bridal gown industry and the demand for dresses that arent white is definitely growing. Particularly in black! But, so I hear- SJP got married in a black dress and now wishes she hadnt.... or at least thats word on the street! ;)
Beautiful dress, but not for a wedding. Would make a beautiful ball gown!

My fear would be that if the marriage failed, everyone would say, "that's what she gets for wearing a black dress!"
SO beautiful, though...I'd consider it.
I WOULD FOR SURE!!!!!! I recently wore a very short, non traditional dress. However when I did try own gowns my favorite was a Reme Acra grayish-brown. Or a Vera Wang blush...white wasn't for me!
I WOULD DIE for this gown!
I really love this look.
i wouldn't but my best friend since 5 yrs old would SO DO IT - i'm gonna show her this - she'll be SOLD!
i had this post all ready to go for tomorrow. : (
obviously i love the dress.
Definitely! I LOVE this. White simply isn't for everyone. It SOO does not look good on me (red hair, pasty pale skin - white just washes me out). I'd have no qualms about it!!
I wouldn't, but that dress is uber-fab. I'd wear that to something else other than my wedding.
Those pictures are so dramatic.
I'm transfixed with ya:-). I'm already married, but would wear the white version of this dress- ha ha! It's beautiful and i would definitely wear it someplace else.
Oh hells yeah, girl! If I would have seen this dress before I got married, I may have had a wedding. Just so I could rock it!
... back in the day, in Denmark, people got married in black... fun fact :)

The dress is spectacular, but I'm looking forward to a pretty ivory dress someday! However, I've often thought of my bridesmaids in dramatic black gowns (or pastels, or totally mismatched... clearly it's a good thing I'm not engaged or I'd have to make real decisions!)
If I were to choose my dress again, I would have chosen this green number: http://www.ecocitizenonline.com/leila-hafzi-c-34/leila-hafzi-darya-dress-p-650
I've been thinking about this dress ever since Alaina showed it to us on Sunday morning. It's gorgeous and so dramatic!
She would have to be a secure and very sexy bride! But it certainly would liven up the festivities because people would be talking all night long........and wouldn't that be fun? Congratulations on Rue by the way, it is absolutely fabulous and your lovely home will be difficult to leave behind, but SF, now that will be fun too.
this dress is stunning. i don't know if i'd have the nerve to go black for my wedding, but that doesn't stop me from wanting an occassion to wear a dress this gorgeous! i am so NOT of the mind that black is boring, especially when done like this!
thanks for sharing - in love!
oh p.s. with the plantation setting of this shoot, i'm conjuring up images of scarlet o'hara. now SHE would wear black at her wedding, just to be shocking. such gumption, that one!
This dress is seriously stunning- don't think I could get married in a black dress but I'd take this one in white! haha. Love the bouquet too.
Absolutely! It's ultra chic. Marriage to me is about the commitment, the fashion is up to the individual(s).
Had been thinking of doing a photoshoot with a black gown for next anniversary.
I was introduced to your beautiful blog through Sarah. So glad I stopped by! It's gorgeous! I am your new follower!
Now on the subject of the black wedding gown. I am already married and wore white. I could pull it off but I am wondering what my mother would think! It's a beautiful dress!
I am hosting a one of a kind giveaway ... hope you'll stop by!
Beautiful! I think it would be great for a night time wedding - I would do it if a second time ever came around - though my Mom would be horrified...
I love it for a very formal black tie affair, but a wedding - hmmmm...
Don't think I could do it but I did go to an all black wedding once where everyone except the bride wore black. It was very cool and the bride just popped out against everyone in her white dress and flowers. It was stunning!
I'd vote hellya.
Seriously, why not...and this would be not only stunning but slimming too!

These photos are stunning!! I love the idea of wearing black. I might be interested in doing that depending on the who/when/where of the situation!

if it was that dress... maybe!!
That dress is stunning...I could wear it to many fancy events, but not my wedding. I like a white, cream or even a subtle gold. Loving the dress!
If you look at the history of the wedding dress, I think you will find that they were black or brown until around 1900 or so. Wasn't always white in America and other countries.

I most definitely would...gorgeous. Self confidence exudes!
this is such a beautiful dress, i would much rather wear a black wedding dress - its more flattering than white I think :)
