Over the holiday weekend I spent some time perusing my favorite sites for design inspiration and ended up on Grant Gibson's portfolio. I've been a fan of Grant's since the New York Times featured his budget friendly, high style apartment in San Francisco and over time, have been lucky enough to get to know him. Grant's energetic, down to earth, and warm personality make him as endearing as the spaces he creates.
What I love about Grant's aesthetic is that it's timeless but never predictable and the space above is a perfect representation of that. I'm drawn to the rich, stateliness of the tufted velvet sofa as it speaks to the more modern, armless chairs in front. The sofa evokes thoughts of days past, while the chairs say hello to the here and now.
Raised in Los Angeles and a resident of San Francisco, Grant is a California boy through and through. And his designs seem to reflect that. Whether it's the cool aquas reminiscent of the Pacific Ocean or the light and airy feel of his work, Grant's portfolio is a beautiful interpretation of the quiet sophistication of West Coast elegance.

I love these images - a touch simple, a touch glam. I have a velvet sofa too and I couldn't love it more.

Yes, love Grant's work - and you described it perfectly - timeless but never predictable!
I have to agree with you, it is timeless and I love timeless design. I guess that's why I like the signs from www.ramsign.com so much as well. Got a sign from there as christmas gift. Did you get anything nice for your home?
You know it is super funny when you spend a few moments just looking at your favorite blogs with a cup of coffee and then you stop and say- hey wait- that's me!
What a pleasant happy Monday morning surprise!
Please forgive the lack of window treatments in photo #1. They had not been installed yet.
Thank you SO much for your feature.
See you in SF soon!
Crystal,
Thank you for sharing. I have visited Grant's blog, and I love his work.
I hope that your Christmas was wonderful.
