As I'm in gray overload with the new place, my eye has been naturally gravitating towards dark spaces. I love them for the drama, mystery, and moodiness they create. And I'm so excited to try out the look in my own home!
These images grabbed from Flair in NYC are serving as inspiration for me. Though they're a little too full for this clutter free gal, I do love them for ideas on layer and lighting.
They've even got little moments of my current favorite color, green! And of course, I've got my eye on that crisp white trim since last night I started testing out colors for my own trim (post to come on that for Wednesday!).
So what do you think guys, do you love it or hate it? Could you live in a space as moody and dark as these?
On a side note, is it just me or are these spaces channeling Ryan Korban?

Yes, I could easily live in a space like that. I love the look. I haven't tried the look because I'm not sure it looks good when executed in a single room. The idea would have to somehow be carried over to adjoining rooms for it to fit into the whole of the house. I wouldn't know how to do that short of painting everything dark. I'm sure there's another way, I just can't picture it and don't have the guts to roll on the dark paint.
LOVE it. i have been waiting for the pendulum to swing from seeing all white spaces -- which are beautiful, don't get me wrong -- but there is nothing like being in a warm, cozy korban-style room :)
Absolutely. So dramatic and glam!xx

I love the look of it! Plus, the lighting flatters it so well. It's perfect for winter, in my opinion.
I do love grey and have a dark grey library/den...i think its a perfect color for a room like that...but i'll go a very light grey if it was to be in the whole house..It does look lovely with the white trim...would love to see how you go about it...have a great week Crystal!! xx meenal
I didn't think I would like the dark tones as much as I do. Great inspiration photos though.
definitely down. My living room is painted a deep blue/gray, the same depth as the pictures above, and I've accented it with white, black, and silver. Think white couch and white shredded leather rug, silver sequins pillows, and dark black furniture!
I could def. go dark. It must be fun for you to decorate a new place!
I love the white frames popping off the dark walls. So delicious!!

while it looks gorgeous I don't know if I could go that dark in my own space. it certainly would be striking though.

Maybe in the darkest days of winter I could feel happy in such a dark space (these are great examples) but other than that I think more light helps to get you in a better mood more quickly, like in the interiors in Ryan Korbans portfolio. Beautiful!!
yep, I could happily live in a space as dark and moody as this....
BUT....there is too much stuff everywhere for me! Would bang into furniture at every turn!
I love dark spaces but I would be to scared to paint any of my rooms that dark. I wish I had a library or a study that I could paint in a dark colour. I love light colours to much and I think it would affect my mood if I painted a room too dark. I love the effect though. I am just a chicken!
I would love to have a dark room - just would need to have other brighter ones as well. But I do love the look!
Hey Crystal!
I had a chocolate brown foyer for about 2 years which was moody and gave off of a loungy feel but then had to change it to a light gray to lighten my mood. It was fun for a bit but having the lighter color gives off an entirely calming vibe. I also use chocolate brown in a bright guest bedroom once with lots of white trim and furniture. Depends how much light the space gets as to whether it will be too depressing. Chat with you soon!

I'm really into the dark palate this season too! I blogged some of my favorite images a while back - one inspired by none other than Plush Palate.
