FASHION AS ART

Just yesterday a friend was telling me about her intimate, all white East Village bedroom without closets where she displays her clothes in open view. I came home and serendipitously found this perfect image (ever notice how that always happens?).
For the style minded individual, I love the concept of using fashion as art. Why hide those beautiful frocks when you can admire them daily? Arrange your garb monochormatically or mix it haphazardally to create a statement wall that's sure to be a conversation starter.

And speaking of conversation starters, I'm loving everything about these gold hangers. A little extra dose of glitz in the closet never hurt anybody.

Have a beautiful weekend, my dears. Until Monday....

Crystal

Such a great use of space and so pretty! I don't know if I could always be neat enough to pull it off!

i totally love this but would be so afraid the shelves would collapse on my head! if i were a single girl, this is definitely how i would decorate my bedroom! fashion is art! and as carrie says, "i like my money where i can see it: hanging in my closet."

Freakin Fantastic! Just beautiful. Lucky, lucky girl. It's sad how often decor makes me wish I was single. My husband would never in a million allow that bedroom to exist for us. Sigh.

Now I want gold hangers! So frivolous and yet so completely and fabulously glamorous!

Have a great weekend, Crystal. xo

what a perfect idea!! when i lived in my "hobbit den" on 29th i had to hang my clothes in the middle of the room and used it as a divider. used my hand bags as wall art. she really took it to another level. love it.

This is all sweet and lovely, but there is NO way my sacred closet is becoming "art." It is my sanctuary...it's where I keep my precious handbag collection, and it's my telephone booth (a la Superman!). I don't share, and I certainly don't show. But these pictures make for great eye candy! Thanks.

So clever and if you are going to lay in bed and dream under your clothes then you'd better be sure they were on fabulous hangers!

This is such a great idea! I try to keep a fancy dress outside my closet as a decoration - fashion IS art!

I love a peek at people's closets so this post is perfect for me! I secretly want a loft so I can do the exposed closet thing!
