Something Blue

Why do I love this room so much? Because it goes against the grain! When doing a neutral space like this one the tendency is to go with muted furniture, adding touches of color only through the accessories. But homeowner and Style At Home editor Erin McLaughlin turns that inclination on its head and I love it! Instead, she went bold with her beautiful blue sofa and neutral with those fantastic little pillows. The effect is a gorgeous space that's perfectly dramatic and soothing all at once!

Thanks everyone for yet another wonderful week here on the blog, enjoy the weekend! xo, Crystal

P.S. Head over to City Girl Chicago where I'm a guest today and tell Cara I say hi!

I'm in love with those drapes! And the acrylic table. Both items on this month's "to-do" list...though I like your acrylic table better than the one I've found. Lovely!

Hurrah for Erin! I'm very much in favour of bravely going for statement sofas, and I guess the very brave indeed top off statement sofas with statement cushions.

Well put! It really is so dramatic and soothing, the colors are gorgeous and the lucite table is brilliant!

It is totally unexpected. I'm surprised how much I love it with the lavenderish area rug.

Sallie Ann: CB2 has a great lucite coffee table, very similar to this one. Have you checked it out yet?

This is GORGEOUS! Those drapes! I think the drapes make it all. Or the lucite table. Or the blue couch. Or the stained glass window. Or the oversized mirror... hmm so it's gonna be one of those rooms. Where everything is beautiful... fine. Be that way, room.

Cheers,
Alaina

It's funny, my couch is blue and I always felt limited by it. This is really a fabulous way to make it work!

I like it! Although I'm not a fan of the floor design -- a little too busy.

I adore this sofa! Even more so, the combination of elements...the lucite against the rich color and the grey to bring it together so nicely.

Hope you're having a great weekend, Crystal :)

p.s of course, feel free to use any/all of the images on that neutral post.

I love this blue sofa and the grey accent pillows. The long one seems like it might preclude you from sitting on it, though :).
