Lately Loving: Golden Reflections

On my current home decor wishlist is a fabulous gilted mirror. The gold is warm, evokes a sense of age, and gives a touch of formality. I'm especially drawn to the way it speaks within a modern space by balancing the sense of new and antique. It's certainly the statement piece and wow factor item I've been looking for. Now off to find (an affordable) one!

Love these...I am currently looking for a large mirror for above my buffet in my dinning room. The buffet is an english antique and I am having a hard time finding that "special" piece to go above it. The problem is, it could take years! Thanks for the inspiration to keep looking!

Lovely! I love the 3rd mirror. I think a gold mirror will be perfect - right in time for Christmas!

PS- Do you get a little time to relax and unwind after all your traveling? :)

"Affordable," is the key word. When I was growing up you could find giant gilded mirrors all over New Orleans, so my mother bought oodles. When she sold our home much of the furnishing were included in the sale. When I find a large mirror now I snatch it up, paint a base coat of dark red, the cover in gold or silver. This warms whatever gilt you go with. These pics are gorgeous!

@Loving Life in So Cal: hardly! I got back from Seattle yesterday and am flying out on a work trip today. I am beyond exhausted from all my travels!

@Sallie Ann: What a great tip! Thanks for sharing that. I will have to try a dark red base coat!

@Dragonfly: Thanks! I'll head over now...

I completely agree with you on what a gold-gilded frames / mirrors can do to a room. My father owns a frame studio and we just recently picked out a frame for a wedding picture of ours - I learned so much during that process and now wish to have every room have it's own little gold frame. :)
