Happy December 1st! November has come and gone faster than a lightning bolt and you know what that means...the holidays are officially here! I'll be putting my Christmas tree up this weekend and have been pondering what colors to use for my holiday palette. I'd love some ideas and inspiration as I'm a bit stuck!
Of course, I could go the traditional route and stick with the always classic red and green. But, I think I'd like to try something different this year. Perhaps gold and white or red and silver? What colors are you using this season? I'd love to hear your ideas and suggestions!

I love the idea of ivory shimmering with gold accents - it's a very elegant and wintry combination to me - like snow glistening with sunshine. Hope you find the right colors that speak to you this year!

I used red and gold last year for my decorations and really liked it, so I'm planning on sticking with that again. Gold and white is another beautiful combination though!
I love the traditional colors. But I always mix mine with a lot of metallics. I have tons of glittery silvers, golds and coppers that look perfect with my deep reds and navy blue.
I'll be using silver and white this year. I'm in a white affair lately!
My Christmas tree is actually green, blue, gold and silver -- I like to spice things up a bit. Oh, but I'd so love to wear that red dress from the second photograph. So lovely.
last year after Christmas I was so excited because I found a set of taupe-y brown ornaments and fell in love with them. So that with white for me :)
This year I'm decorating with silver, white and a hint of green. I love this combination. I'll also buy some of the branches with red/orange berries on them for decorating my table.
I can't wait to see what color's you choose.
My boy and I just moved in together, and since I want him to feel involved I let him pick our decoration scheme. He chose cranberry red and cream, so that's what we're doing. However, our tree is kind of a hodgepodge since we got a bunch of ornaments from our moms. But I kind of like it that way. Fun to see his childhood ornaments with mine. So I guess we're going for a "nostalgic" theme in mostly cream and cranberry!
Hi there, its a tough one, we are having a black tree with small led red cherry tree lights. Sharon xx
these make me think red and green are definitely the ticket but i have been liking silvery blues and greys too!
I love adding metallics...silver and gold... silver and gold... :)
LOVE these photos...colors are beautiful...I left you an award over on my blog!
After my tweet to you this morning I looked down and guess what I was wearing...fuscia/purple and gray!! LOL so I guess that is where my holiday palate comes from fuscia/purple/silver, I can't wait to start decorating!!
There are so many fun ways to go, that I often keep most of my decorations in metallics, so I can add color each year as I choose, without having to start from scratch.
This year I am actually going a bit crazy for grays and snowflakes - it works better in NYC than LA. :) In fact, it was the theme behind my post today...
I tend to never use green and red. This year, I'm going to use my all time fave colour aubergine and highlight with silver!!!
Happy decorating :-)
I spent a small fortune on red and gold for my main tree. Thank God I love it so it will always be red and gold (classic). My dining room is red and silver. My family room is my daughter's tree so pink, and more pink, some white, and candy canes. In my kitchen ~ blue decorations. Hmmm... I guess a little bit of everything. Wow what a beautiful December post, Love! Gorgeous photos. I'm interested to see what Rome looks like during Christmas time!

What great pics! I love that scarlet red! I am all about silver and white this year!
Every year, I change my scheme...last year was silver and brights such as magenta and Kelly green. This year, I was heading towards a look of deep copper and aubergine, then quickly switched it to Tiffany's blue, lots of white, and copper...
I recall you loving that tree near the entry of Red Ticking -- perhaps some beautiful silver and white, combined with pink? (like in that pretty pillow perhaps) I bet your place will look stunning, Crystal! I cannot wait to hear more...

Two years ago I bought an entire new set or ornaments in gold and a light green. Since then I have been adding peacock elements so this year I will have the gold and green along with dashes of feathers, blues and purples. Love!
I also like the idea of crystals...blues, silvers, crystals, very wintery and glam.
Or for a more traditional look lighter blues with copper, bronze, golds and browns.
