Big Announcement!!!

I have a big (for me) announcement to share with you today! I just couldn't wait any longer because whether you know it or not, I feel like you are on this journey with me. Whatever the journey may be, I couldn't nor would I want to be on it without you. So here goes...
In December I'll be moving from Chicago to San Francisco!!! Just writing that here and officially putting it out into the universe makes it real in a way that hasn't quite sunk in yet. It's scary and exhilarating all at once, but also there's this amazing certainty I feel inside.

As most of you know, my world has been turned upside down in a wonderful way since Rue entered my life. Starting the magazine was a huge leap of faith for me and here I am yet again leaping. I'm finding that as I go after my passion with courage and honest intentions the world has an incredible way of opening up to me and always catching me should I fall.

As our vision for Rue continues to grow, I've been thinking a lot about what my next professional and personal steps should be. Though I flirted with the idea of a move to New York City so I could be at the center of the design world, after really reflecting on what's most important to me, San Francisco is where my heart is taking me. I realized that though having easy access to all the events and networking opportunities in NY would be nice, that it wasn't a sincere enough reason for me to move there.

At the end of the day, all that really matters to me is staying close to Rue's mission of providing beautiful and diverse inspiration for our readers, being an accessible and community driven publications, and playing the role of encouraging guide as readers find what they love and make it their own. And that can be achieved in any city! But also of utmost important to me is continuing to nurture the wonderful partnership I'm so fortunate to have with my co-founder and friend Anne, who lives in San Francisco.

So, Anne and I have decided to open up Rue's official offices in San Francisco together! And my heart bursts with excitement! Being able to work side by side, day in and day out, will allow us to really take Rue to the next level in a way that we probably couldn't if we were bi-coastal. What's more, our market editor Caitlin is also in SF! And we're lobbying for our managing editor Alaina and our art director Bri to also make the move to the beautiful city sometime soon!

But really guys, let's be honest, this west coast girl who grew up in Seattle is just happy to be going back to the coast that always feels like home...

I was wondering if this was going to be the case. Of course I'm going to miss you here in Chicago and all the awesome wine nights we've had, but I am so, so excited for you at the same time!

I wish you the very best and hey, I'll have a place to visit when I go to SF myself in the future. Perhaps a wine tour in Napa and Sonoma?

When my honey and I graduated college we looked at moving to SF for while, but then I found a job here. Now I kind of wish we had anyway - so many cool things happening there and so many creative people call it home. Oh well, I'll just have to visit!

I saw this brewing over the weekend on fb ~ congrats on taking the leap!

Don't worry, if you ever need a "roving reporter" in the heart of NYC, I am only a call, tweet, or email away.

Perhaps you didn't read my little announcement the other day (scroll to the bottom of images) but I too am making space in my life to be open to new opportunities: http://www.abcddesign.com/archives/2010/09/28/sneak-peek-baby-announcement-amelias-digital-sketches/

I'm only catching up on the big news now- SO exciting! I'm a Chicago girl who moved to L.A. and I remember well the intellectual NYC pull, but then the realization of the universe's intent and the subsequent emotional understanding of what your adoptive town will soon mean to you, your life, and your destiny.

Here's to inspired work, great girlfriends, and this incredible, unfolding story of where faith in fate might take you. Good vibes being sent your way leading up to the move! xoxo!
