With my impending move to San Francisco just two months away, I'm already knee deep in decorating ideas for my new place! One of the joys (amidst the headaches) of moving is the opportunity to start fresh with a blank canvas. I've decided to leave all my furniture behind in Chicago and take with me nothing more than my clothes and a few special pieces. That's just the way I am...a palate cleanse kinda girl.
My aesthetic is decidedly clean, calming, and clutter-free, so I'll be sticking to that point of view for sure. But in the new place, I want to glam it up a bit with shiny surface, gilt accents, and luxurious fabrics.
Though I absolutely love my current home, which you can see staring on page 166 in Rue Magazine, I'm a little fatigued on the earthly, organic undertones.
So I've decided the easiest way to remedy that is sticking to a no wood furniture rule in the new place! It's time to retire (just for a while) the warmth of this element in favor of cooler surface like lucite, mirrors, and marble.
Knowing me, I'll probably stick to my love of all things white and create a space similar to this one. I love how the designer has punctuated the room with girly pinks, paired with masculine brown leather and oversized artwork!
And of course, of paramount importance will be my bedroom. I've decide I want to feel like a queen every night as I lay my head down to rest, so you can bet it will be over the top luxe - I'm thinking of a curtained four-post bed with tufted headboard and lots and lots of pillows!
On a more serious note, I just wanted to let you know how much all your comments regarding my move touched me. I read each and every one and was so utterly moved by your support, your well wishes, your advice, and your friendship. You truly are the best readers a girl could ever ask for!

While you are at it, I will take one of your new bedrooms too! It sounds dreamy!!!
I love the living room with the low coffee table and the mountain of hydrangeas!!!
Good luck with your move. That's such an exciting opportunity! I'm totally inspired by your idea that moving is a good time to start with a blank canvas. I'm {hopefully} making a move soon myself and I've realized how much STUFF I have. I need to start fresh so my next place doesn't end up looking like an episode of Hoarders :)
I can't beileve you are moving! Selfishly this makes me v. sad, but I am so excited for you!
Oh how I love a blank slate... I swear every three years I'm ready to move. I'm guessing its because that's how long it takes me to get everything the way I want it... then I need a change :+) Although there is no way I would be able to leave everything behind, I would have to grab my favorite thrift store lamp... or little table before I would know it I would have half of what I own packed ha ha.
The first picture is divine!
Starting from scratch is so bold and fun! I'd be happy to take any unwanted furniture/decor off your hands when the time comes :) You should have a stoop sale, I'll be first in line!
This weekend I just started transitioning my living room into grey/white with pops of pink. Still missing a few key pieces though, just haven't found them yet!
Love your inspiration pics. The best part about moving is starting fresh - enjoy it!

Lucite, mirrors and marble are perfect for SF..do you like fog an dmist? It truly is beautiful (I grew up just down the coast in Monterey) but all those shiny surfaces can reflect some light into your home. Have fun!
with all this inspiration, your apartment is bound to turn out BEAUTIFULLY. Exciting! I love all the whites and luxe details!
