DADDY'S GIRL

The bond between a father and a daughter is a beautiful, special thing. And I'm so blessed to be able to call this great man my Dad.
He's the one who took me to Europe when I was eleven years old and said "I wanted the first man to take you to Paris to be someone who would love you always and no matter what."
He's the one who didn't bat an eye when I told my parents I was moving to Italy and said, "you dream the dream and we'll help you get there."
He's the one who I could turn to when I missed someone so much it hurt, put me on a plane the next day and said, "you need to see him in person to figure this out."
He's the one who started the tradition of our father/daughter dates when I was a little girl and said, "I want you to see the respect with which a man should treat you."

He's the one who let me dream as big as I desired, travel as far as I wanted, soar as high as I dared, and said, "the world is your oyster. You can be anything you want to be."

Happy Father's day, Dad. I love you!

Crystal, it is fabulous you have such an amazing Dad! My Dad took me on my first "date" when I was 13. We have the same type of bond you have. I am always asking him for advice. And if I talk about him I am always brought to tears. Great post!!

Ooops you did it again! Crystal you and these posts that make me cry!... Reading this I felt the need to confess something not everybody knows about me, but nobody knows me in this little part of the world of blogs (beside mine). I never met my father and unfortunately my mother died without being able to tell me. It was supposed to be somebody very powerfull from politics in my country. But I might never find that out. Anyway... reading this I realised that If I ever had a father that is how I would like him to be. Thank you for sharing with us .

@Ana: I'm so touched you'd share that with us here! Thank you so much for opening up like that. What a special story. I'm sure that your dad would be so proud of you if he could meet you. That special place in your heart of wonder and mystery is to be cherished always...there's beauty in that too.

That is so special. I lost my father at 14 and I always wished I had more time with him to build that kind of bond. You are lucky to have him and he is very lucky to have you :)

Crystal, this is so beautiful, I teared up all the way through! You are very blessed to have such a wonderful Father, and such cherished, unforgettable memories...

My own Father was never really present in my life — he was more of a distant uncle. My parents divorced when I was just about two years old... we do not see each other any more, but I feel very lucky to have a stepfather who loves me as much as any Father could, and was happy to step in and take the role of "Dad."

Hope all is well :)
xx, Sarah
