Modern Warmth

Today I'm feeling inspired by interiors with warmth and hints of masculinity. Perhaps it's because I've been around girls all weekend, or maybe it's just the change of season sweeping over me.
Either way, I'm craving worn in leathers, deep colors, dark floors and the visual anchor of introducing black into my home.

SWEET, SWEET SANCTUARY

The sun is starting to shine more frequently here these days and I find myself opening the windows to the crisp breeze, sounds of outside, and smell of fresh air.
This home is the perfect setting to my spring time dreams! A light and breezy palette of corals and soothing grays. Tactile elements of linens and cotton. Bright whites, clean walls, and sprinkles of flower blossoms.
Can you imagine it? Coming home after a run in the sun, or picnic in the park...
To the feeling of being equal parts energized and relaxed as you tuck in for the night in this sweet sanctuary?

A Dreamy Home

So many of you commented on your love for this bathroom last Monday, that I thought a little sneak peak of the rest of the home was fitting! I'm sure you're going to love it just as much, if not more!
One thing I'm drawn to most about this space is the soothing color palette of natural woods, whites, and muted greens.
Exposed shelving, mirrored sconces, and nailhead trim on a chair...it's all about the details in this home!
I think it goes without saying that I love love love the floors. Throw in that curved stairway and arched ceiling and I'm in heaven!
A chandelier while you bathe? Of course! To see the rest of this home, including my favorite feature of all - the living room fireplace! - check out photographer Ashlee Raubach's site. You'll be happy you did!

Unapologetically Girly

Well, if yesterday was just for the boys, I figured I'd finish off today with something unapologetically girly. It's only fair, don't you think?

This beautiful set of images is from Charmaine's blog, Beautiful Things to Share, a new favorite of mine! Just as the name would imply, you'll find loads of beautiful things and inspiring images you'll want to tell your friends about. Thanks to Daniella of Dress Design Decor for introducing me to her!

For the Man in Your Life

Let's start the new year off differently and with a space just for the men. As a girl who grew up in a house full of brothers, I can definitely appreciate a good, masculine design when I see one!
I am in love with this small East Harlem apartment featured in the December issue of Lonny Magazine. It's sophisticated, cozy, chic and calming all at once. Home owner and design consultant Anthony Gianacakos employs mirrors and big horizontal stripes on the walls to create depth and space in a tight living area.
The layers of different patterns, colors, and textures on this bed are what do it for me in this room. The camel colored pillows give it a pop of warmth, while the plush throw blanket adds a luxurious touch.
In a small space, staying organized is key. I love Anthony's use of different decorative boxes to hide loose items and clutter in a stylish and unified way.
I don't think I could love these black walls any more than I already do! I adore the idea of painting a closest in a glossy, inky black! It's so glamorous and so 'night club!'

I will also have to borrow his idea of sticking a bookshelf in a closet as an alternative to expensive built-in shelving. It's the perfect place to house clothes, purses, shoes, and more! Now, why didn't I already think of that? :)

Lazy Mornings & Late Starts

Lazy mornings and late starts. Self-care and rejuvenation. This is how I'm spending my days off because soon it will be back to the grind and to-do lists. These soft hues of beige reflect the still mind and calm heart I am after.
Isn't this a lovely image? Sleeping beauty all wrapped up in warmth, sweet dreams, and the easy passage of time. This is exactly what I have in mind for my own vacation.
Speaking of vacation, a blazing fire, warm cup of coffee and good book, are all I need to feel content on this chilly Wednesday afternoon. Ah, the luxury of having nowhere to be, no one to see!
Enjoy the last few days of 2009 my dears! Let's reflect on what made it great and how we can make 2010 even better!
