Style Evolution

My style is constantly changing, as I'm sure many of you can relate. There's always something new to notice, something new to appreciate, and something that you used to hate that magically grows into love. About a year ago, this first kitchen would have had me swooning. Now, not so much as I need a break from the rustic and natural.
Today, something a little more like this gets my heart racing. Hello color, casual chic, and a touch of glamor! I wonder how long you'll stay...

What a lovely point to make...beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder (and the beholder's mood :)).

Love the second pic by the way, very laid back and classy all at the same time. A perfect setting to enjoy a light meal with friends :)

I am totally with you..! Love to see how my style keeps evolving with time and certain things that would have not caught my attention before today are some of my fav. Although the essence of it I like to think is the same...as in fashion...!
Hope you have a great day!

so right, it's a bit like fashion sometimes!

Our preferences change due to so many reasons and simply because we continue to evolve and with that comes change! I feel the same way, but I'm consistent with the lack of clutter, calming color palettes and a crispness to the look of a room. I love the chairs in the first photo...they are amazing. The second photo is love. I passed the Happy 101award along to you!

Love that second room! My problem is I love many design styles and trying to incorporate them all into one house (or narrowing them down) is hard.

My style has completely evolved. I think it still is in constant motion. It is kind of confusing at times though. When I look at both pictures, I could do both! So there is my dilemma!

Hi Crystal- I discovered you over at Right Bank. Love the blog! I favor the second image too.
This design obsession is like a sickness, right? I drive my man crazy with constant need to change/ alter/ upgrade!

I'm going through a bit of a design transition myself. The second image really speaks to me. My former style when we built our home was old world style with oversized pieces and darker colors. I'm finding that changing everything is a time consuming venture.

Ah, you have me again, Crystal! I adore the second room. I'm really loving yellow as of late -- and this room perfectly suits the bold dash of cheer that yellow brings...

I know what you mean about transitioning styles -- I'm finding a happy medium with mine -- loving the modern and European antique, with a dash of the unexpected. It's fun, finding your way...

I find this room special, because of the way the furniture has been arranged -- it says "sit...enjoy". It doesn't feel stuffy, formal, or unfriendly, as so many spaces are. I think I could be quite happy living here :)

I think we're swapping roles! A year ago I was totally into glamour, glitz, bright raspberry pinks... now I want natural linen, stoneware, white floors, and loose bouquets.

It's ok, they are all beautiful and simply speak to us in different ways at different times in our lives, I think. However, an expensive problem if we try to redecorate each time we evolve!
